  • This is a a follow up question because I wanted to be certain. I first asked if I could hit my ball off the eight legally. Can the eight ball also then be used in a three ball combination as follows, One, Eight, Three? The three being the pocketed ball.
    - David Kirscht, Elk River
  • Yes, it is legal to use the 8-ball as the middle ball in a combination.

  • In a game of Eight Ball can I hit my object ball off the eight ball then into my called pocket if I hit my ball first or is this a foul?
    - David Kirsch, Elk River
  • It is legal to play your ball off of the 8-ball as long as you hit your ball first.

  • i was reading through previous questions and saw frank barcio's comment about how he switched from left to right handed because he is right eye dominant. i shoot right handed and do not have a lense in my right eye and am legally blind in that eye. i feel i play above average but should i start working on making a switch to left handed playing? do pros always play the same handed as the dominant eye?
    - scott
  • Scott Your first answer in why? If you play well now, why switch hands. The "dominant eye" does not have a lot to do with shooting pool. As a matter of fact, allot of players play and they don't have a dominant eye. Where you put your head over the cue is different for all players. We all must position our eye(s) so that we can point our cue in a straight line to the target. There are many examples in the pro ranks. Take a look at Earl Strickland, his cue is under his right ear, must be his dominant ear! Answer two....NO!

  • I am a 3 in league 8-ball and my boyfriend, whom I practice with often, is a 6. I know it is beneficial for me to practice with him, but how do I keep myself from getting frustrated when he beats me all the time? I start off shooting well, he makes crazy shots and wins, I get upset and then I start shooting poorly...how do I break that cycle? Thanks.
    - Jaime Hutchison, Amherst
  • Jaime My wife and I had the same problem years ago. The first thing we all must understand is: Play time is NOT Practice time! The second thing to understand is that he's a better player than you, right now. I suggest that you find a couple of drills that are beneficial to you and Practice them with out playing anyone. That is time well spent on a pool table.
