- In 8-ball, can I shoot a combination shot with 3 balls with my choice being the first and third ball but the opponent's ball being the middle ball?
- Bob Hopkins, Chesapeake, Virginia
- Yes, as long as you call the shot and you contact a ball from your group first.

- In 8-ball, I'm shooting stripes with 3 of my balls left on the table.
I shoot at one of my balls and fail to make the shot; however, the cue ball continues around the table and pockets the eight ball. What is the ruling? Thank you.
- Bob Hopkins, Chesapeake, Virginia
- in any game of pool, what is it called when you sink in all 15 balls(not including cue ball)when you break? and is it legal?
- Matthew
- Yes, it is theoretically possible. However, I have never seen it. That particular situation is not covered in any body of rules that I know of. Incorporating a few rules that are established, as the 8-ball was made on the break, rules state that the shooter has the option to spot the 8-ball and continue to shoot or rack the balls and re-break. If the shooter decides to spot the 8-ball and shoot, the 8-ball would be both players legal object ball.

- In a 14/1 match player A left the 9 ball hanging by a thread in the corner pocket. It was at rest for more than 5sec. Player B played a combo 10ball into the hanging 9. As the 10ball was moving toward the 9, the 9 fell in prior to the 10 contacting the 9. The 10 went in and they continued play with player B continuing to shoot. My opinion was that the 9 be respotted in the jaws of the pocket with the cue ball and 10ball being replaced to the original spot, and reshooting the original shot. Is that correct?
- Rod Neely, Blasdell, NY
- Yes, the balls will be restored to their original position and the shooter will shoot again.

- In the game of 9-Ball when the shooter pockets the 9 ball legally and then scratches, is the 9 ball re-spotted with ball in hand or is the game over?
- Ernie Falconer, Calgary AB
- The 9-Ball is re-spotted and it is ball-in-hand for the opposing player.
