- Hi Anthony, Congratulations on all your success. If you have internet , you can study other top players play. There must be many videos out there. I would start by setting goals with your game. For example, practicing Kicks, banks, masse's jumps, using all types of english at different speeds. Set up shots that challenge you and keep track of your success rate. For example, throw out a set of balls and see how long it takes you to kick and MAKE every ball. It will make you realize very quickly how much more you can learn about rails and english. It's always difficult when you don't have much challengers but there is always so much to learn, just from playing by yourself if you stay humble and look forward to growing your game.

- Jeanette, I have read and heard from BCA instructors that more than 30 minutes of practice a day is a waste. I have also read that you and other Pro's spend hours every day practicing, what is your feelings on this. Thanks.
- Bill Hawkins, Danville
- Wow! It would be hard to believe that anyone could make such a blanket statement about practice. I think what would make a "waste" is if you were practicing in a way that did not contribute to your learning process.

- I want to better my skills and enter more tournaments that so I can win more but i dont have a lot of money to spend on them. Do you know of any pool tournaments in NC close to Statesville?
- Thomas Payne, Statesville
- Hi Thomas,
I believe there is the Jacoby tour in this area. The best thing to do is to look on the internet for events and keep playing locally. As you grow in experience and skill level then venture out to larger tournaments regionally and then Nationally. This is how most players start their journey and who knows where it will take you. Good Luck.

- I have always heard that a cue ball was a star, it has 5 points but you can not see it on the ball. True or false?
- Donna Wyatt, Paris
- Hmmm. I wouldn’t say a star. What I believe this comment to mean is the following:
Imagine a dot in the center of the ball as you look at it on the same level as addressing the ball when playing. Now at the lowest and highest point 2 other dots. These represent maximum top spin, center and maximum back spin positions. In between these 3 spots imagine 2 more. Now look at the horizontal axis of the cue ball and do the same thing. I would say you are looking at a cross with 5 spots from top to bottom and 5 spots from side to side. These are tip positions that every player should learn in order to play good position and have good cue ball control.

- I am 41 yrs old is it too late to become a Pro Player?
- Gary Rushton, Johnston
- Or course not. Joe Balsis, a world champion didn't even begin to play pool till he was in his forties. As long as your eyesight and nerves hold up, you should be good to go. Just be aware that you need the put the work and dedication in. Being a world champion in any sport really takes a level of dedication and especially sacrifice that most people just can't even imagine. And the pain and disappointment of each loss when you've worked so hard is more than most can take so unless you really really love it, you just won't get there. But I believe in people and I believe in you. You can do it.
